srv has Jenkins build results (large), zuul-merge repositories ( 25GB), docroot (small) We would want to shrink the volume group and create a new one for Docker images which would be at /srv/docker. has Docker images (via /var/lib/docker) which is the concern: docker can fill the root partition. After copying those files to the NTFS/FAT32 partition, connect the storage device to your Mac and the NTFS/FAT32 partition should be automatically mounted, ready for you to use. You need to recreate the filesystem if you setup CentOS 7 filesystem with XFS partitions! If the storage device doesn’t have an NTFS/FAT32 partition, create one and make sure it is large enough to contain the files you want to copy. Worse thing is you can't fix it on existing CentOS 7 created XFS partitions. find /my/data/to/move -name '.DSStore' -type f -delete It is better than having to fix them after with an fsck command. DSStore files the OS X filesystem sneaks in as they occasionally cause bad inodes. See explanation at What is dtype and why Docker overlayfs need it - Linuxer Pro. Also, for moving files from OS X's filesystem to ext4, you may first want to remove those hidden. CentOS 7 though creates EXT4 filesystems with dtype=1 enabled by default. The configuration instructions below walk you. This block device must be formatted for Btrfs and mounted into /var/lib/docker/. Btrfs requires a dedicated block storage device such as a physical disk. Use docker save to save containers, and push existing images to Docker Hub or a private repository, so that you not need to re-create them later.
